With weather like we had last weekend it was madness not to head out for a hunt or fish. I went for a fish with two mates from South Africa. We headed out early from Little Huia to catch some west coast snapper and catch we did 58m just north of the bar. A dirty old bait session.
    From the moment our baits hit the bottom the bite was crazy we binned up with our 30 fish nothing under 4lb and lots in the 6-8lb range with one solid 18lber for the smoker.
    This time of year the snapper run down the west coast of the NI. There's some great spring snapper fishing to had with lots of large trophy fish. turning up off Rgalan & Kawhia. Those same fish are off the Manukau just a little further out. Go and have at them. Be careful with the bar make sure you follow out an experienced boatie if not famillier with the Manukau bar.
