The Vixen 3-12x40 rifle scope is, at first glance, a very respectable scope with 4:1 magnification, weighing in at just 12.9 ounces. As far as 3-12x scopes go, it looks pretty solid. One piece aluminum body, aluminum turret caps, and exactly what you'd expect from a scope at this price. The magnification adjustment is smooth, yet tight, and the focusing ring moves freely with no grinding or extra resistance. The turret caps remove to reveal low profile turrets, which provide some excellent audible and tactile feedback when adjusting.
The optics on the Vixen 3-12x40 are nothing short of excellent. There is virtually no rolling ball, minimal chromatic aberration even at the highest 12x setting, and sharpness continues directly to the edge of the sight picture.
This scope is manufactured in Japan and carries Vixen's Lifetime Transferrable Warranty.
